Since 2001, La Société des Plantes has created a catalog of seeds aimed at gardeners and small farmers in northern climates who are looking for hardy varieties, sometimes unusual, and above all, tested in a climate similar to their own. In addition to the dynamic conservation of open-pollinated varieties, we also carry out our own crosses there in order to develop new varieties… All our seeds are in the public domain and therefore reproducible. Our selection protocols focus on the organoleptic qualities of plants, their beauty, ethnobotany, living heritage and gastronomy as much as resistance to bad weather and pests. We advocate sustainable development that promotes curiosity, creativity, gastronomic biodiversity and food autonomy. Most of our seeds are produced on site, here at La Société des Plantes, in Kamouraska, Quebec, where we have been certified organic for 20 years.
